MEET THE MURRAYS
The Murray brothers grew up on the North Shore of Chicago. Their parents, Ed and Lucille Murray raised nine children in a sweet little house on a leafy street in Wilmette, Illinois. As teenagers, the boys spent their summers working as caddies at the local private country club; it was that experience that inspired Brian Doyle Murray to write the classic golf comedy, Caddyshack. Many of the brothers participated in the making of the movie and can be found standing around in many of the funniest scenes. The Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant is a reflection of the Murrays love of golf, laughs, family, and friends. The restaurant is an extension of their hospitality to lovers of good food, drink, and just plain fun...and they don't have to clean up after you.  |
Oldest brother, Ed Murray, is an avid golfer and father of three sons (all scratch golfers!), he plays whenever possible. A little known fact, the opening scene of the Caddyshack movie was based on an actual event from Ed's childhood. His quest was to obtain the Evans Scholarship from the private country club where he worked as a caddie. This event gave younger brother, Brian, the inspiration to write the opening scene and develop the character, Danny Noonan. |

Actor and screenwriter, Brian Doyle Murray, is the author of the original Caddyshack script. He continues to write and act in television and film. Starting out at The Second City theatre in Chicago, Brian is known for his comedic ability, devastatingly funny writing style and immediately recognizable voice. The character, Lou, the caddymaster, in Caddyshack is played by Brian in a classic portrayal of one of Brian's caddymaster heroes from his youth. Brian plays golf as often as possible. He recently went on an eleven day golf game marathon.

Bill Murray followed his brother, Brian, into acting and also started his career in Chicago at The Second City theatre. Bill has gone on to star in numerous films, including, Meatballs, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, and was nominated for an Academy Award as best actor for his performance in Lost in Translation. He has starred in numerous other critically acclaimed films and some just damn funny films. He is widely known and loved for his role as Carl, the assistant greenskeeper in Caddyshack. Bill is a regular golfer and is often seen playing in tournaments around the country where he frequently jokes with the fans and interacts with the crowd. He brings his hospitality to the restaurant, where he wants everyone to feel relaxed and have some fun. |

The culinary expert in the family, Andy Murray, is co-owner of Murray Bros. Caddyshack. Andy has supervised every aspect of the restaurant and can be found in the kitchen or at the front door of the restaurant on most days. Andy brings to the restaurant many beloved Chicago iconic dishes as well as family favorites. He divides his time between his home in St. Augustine and Westchester, N.Y. Andy is married to marketing expert, Liz Nickles. Andy and Liz are having a blast following the amateur golf career of son, Drew, a scratch golfer and Williams College golf team member. |

John Murray is an actor, part time writer, house painter and bartender. Johnny has the distinction of being the one family member who knows how to crack everybody up. He has a quick wit and easy going way on and off the golf course. John is working on a radio show that will be broadcast on the restaurant website media page. |

The baby of the family, Joel Murray, aka Mr. Stubbs, decided to follow the path of his brothers Brian and Bill and is an alumni member of The Second City theatre in Chicago. Joel is a regular on numerous television shows, including Mad Men, Darma and Greg, and Still Standing. You also may have noticed Joel in the 1986 hit movie One Crazy Summer. Joel is a serious golfer, and many people question his handicap (Billy). |
Eldest sister, Sister Nancy Murray, OP was a teacher and youth minister in the Chicago area for many years. In keeping with the family tradition, Sr. Nancy is currently touring the country performing a one women show, the life of St. Catherine of Siena, the founder of the order of Catholic sisters of which she is a member. Nancy would like you to know she is the only member of the family with a degree in Drama.
Peggy Murray lives in suburban Chicago with her husband. Peggy is the keeper of the family recipes, which she often passes on to Andy for the restaurant. She is the mother of three grown children and she and her husband are proud grandparents.
Laura Murray lives in the Chicago area with her husband. Her home is gathering place for many a Murray celebration, filled with lots of laughs, reminiscing, and now, ice skating parties.
